SCIENTIFIC AND EDUCACTIONAL ACTIVITIES

Research

The working group has published numerous papers in national and international scientific journals. Members of the group regularly present current research results as well as invited contributions at international conferences. In the field of intracardiac echocardiography as a guiding tool for percutaneous catheter interventions, Innsbruck Medical University is considered a leading center and also represents a reference center. Besides that, three-dimensional echocardiography, tissue Doppler echocardiography, coronary physiology and other non-invasive imaging modalities are important fields worked on in cooperation with clinical partners. Current projects also include procedures for minimal invasive and percutaneous implantation of valve prostheses and catheter-based valve manipulations.

Training

The working group schedules their own educational events, especially in the field of echocardiographic diagnostics and takes part in sessions organized by the Department of Cardiology as well as the Departments of Cardiac Surgery and Anesthesiology. Our publication of a Textbook entitled “Echocardiography – Textbook and Atlas“ with contributions of many co-authors from Austria and abroad had a great impact on our collaboration with general practitioners and clinical partners.
